It’s been a long time since I’ve updated my blog. Of course I’ve gone into hiding since the market tanked during Nov – Dec 2018 ;-p. To be honest, I was planning to sell off before Christmas to lock in some profits but Fed chairman Powell decided to celebrate Christmas earlier than anticipated so I was caught off guard. Although I have created quite a decent growth portfolio which I still think is worth keeping, seeing it tanked so drastically within a month or two wasn’t pleasant. I was definitely riding the wave of euphoria and guess it was a good wake up call for me. Those who have followed me closely over the years would probably have realized now that my biggest weakness is S.E.L.L.I.N.G.
As I get older and after going through market volatility, I am beginning to wonder whether I need to start diversifying my portfolio beyond equities. There is a time for wealth accumulation and there is a time for wealth protection. Maybe it’s time for me to be more open to alternative instruments available in the market.
BTW, Hyukoh is finally coming to town this month. See you there !
Gong Xi Fa Cai and Happy Valentines !!
Nice blog. Glad to be here reading your stock report card. Very impressive. Happy CNY to you. Keep blogging!!
Hi Vineeta,
Thanks ! Happy CNY to you too !
Any idea on alternative instruments available in the market in your mind?
Hi CreateWealth8888,
Waiting for you to suggest :). Your ginger more spicy than mine. BTW, Gong Xi Fa Cai !
US market rebounded since late Dec. Fortunate that you didnt sell when the market tanked in Dec =)
Hi Diyquant,
That’s positive thinking :). I could have sold it at it’s peak (oct) and picked up some bargains at it’s low (dec). But, I probably wouldn’t have the guts to do that. Tricky market. Too much market manipulation from the US gov, trade war, fed etc..
BTW, the revamped blog looks impressive and clever monetization :). Gong Xi Fa Cai !!
Gong xi fa cai! Thanks, may the year of pigs be a better year for your portfolio and mine =)
Hi Lady,
Actually, I am of view that there is no need for you to sell the counters. Keep them for dividends. Focus on the things which you like to do. I believe that you are set for a lifetime.
Happy CNY to you.

Hi Lady,
It is the matter of being nonchalant on the investment portfolio. Anyone can do it. Thanks for the article which is quite informative. Be happy always. Investment is only part of the life journey. There are so much things to be involved in life. The most important thing is to be happy with the things you are involved.
WTK
Hi WTK,
Thanks for the good reminder :). Don’t worry. I am always happy.
Happy New Year to you!
It has been awhile. Always interesting to see your US portfolio. There is really much more live trading in the US compared to SG market.
Looking at your Alibaba/JD.com/Tencent holdings, what is your opinion on their reporting figures? I certainly have some doubts in their numbers despite trading $BABA twice haha
Hi Frowns88,
Gong Xi Fa Can ! Good to hear that you are having fun trading the US market. AS for your queries with regards to Alibaba/JD/Tencent, these are not the best fundamental stocks to me but rather long term bets which I believe have a huge potential based on how and where they are vested.
Hi! May i know which trading platforms are you using? Looks kinda neat.
Hi Dan,
I am using DBS vickers. Not a fantastic platform for analytics though.
Hi, what tracking software do you use to track your portfolio?
Hi Leroy,
I am using my broker’s platform – Vickers.
Nice report for those who are at the learning stage in the stock market. Good post!
