Huge price drop on IBM; are you considering investing into it?
Hi Honey Money,
Not interested in IBM. The tech sector is experiencing a disruption right now. They need to reinvent themselves fast else they will end up very shaky like HP soon.
Hi Lady,
I heard the Alibaba IPO was hard to get for retail investors. Is this true? And when did you buy into Apple?
Hi L,
Not sure whether I quite understand your question about Alibaba IPO. It was definitely a very hot IPO launch. Now you can buy Alibaba easily from NYSE. As for apple, I think I started buying it in 2008, have been buying and selling it over the years. Can't really remember, sorry.
What platform service u use to buy us stocks?
Hi leslie,
I use DBS Vickers. I know it's not the best tool to buy US stocks as the commission is high but I am lazy to manage too many platform. Also, I usually hold for long term. :-)
I see that u have abt 400k in us stocks. Not a small amt.
could i ask if u have them in custody by a local broker or how u hold them?
i am thinking of divesting out of singapore.
Hi Paul,
The broker in Singapore typically allows you to trade US and HK stocks. However, they do charge quite a premium for the commission. But as I don't really have the time to manage multiple accounts across multiple platforms, I have decided to stick to just one i.e. DBS. Some of my friends are using US based trading platform where they charge really really low commission fees thus if you plan to trade quite frequently in US stocks, you may want to check them out.
I found these articles, that may be useful for you. Have fun ;-)
